Lunch Club - Term 2

Our second term is from Monday, March 6, 2023, through Friday, May 26. 

This program is completely FREE for all students and it is entirely optional! There is no obligation to register for the clubs. Outdoor recess (and indoor recess during inclement weather) will continue as a daily option for all children.

ENROLLMENT:

If your child is interested, please complete the Lunch Club Form no later than Friday, March 3rd. Depending on the number of enrollments we will try to accomodate all applicants into their club of choice. Shortly after we've completed our weekly schedule, you will be notified of your child’s club placement. 

CLUB ASSIGNMENTS:

Due to the previous number of enrollments, we will not be holding a lottery this term. However, some programs may have fewer spots depending on age (smaller cohorts for younger grades) and our volunteers' preferences. Should a club become overly requested, we will re-assign your child to another open slot. If you'd like to ask for a transfer, please email info@mnspta.org with your child's FULL NAME (first and last) and GRADE in the subject line - we will do our best to accomodate everyone.

ABSENCES AND CANCELLATIONS:

We understand that absences happen and that sunny days make it hard to sit indoors. If your child misses Lunch Club for any reason, this will not be held against them. However, if the entire group misses Lunch Club for more than 2 sessions, our volunteers may cancel that section of the club and be reassigned. 

OUR VOLUNTEERS:

We are extremely grateful to our parent volunteers whose generosity and dedication to our children has made the Lunch Club Program possible. If you would like to donate 1-2 hours of your time, once a week, please email us with a preferred day of the week and activity. 

TYPES OF CLUB:

Book Club- Children will choose a book to read together and discuss the characters, big ideas and details. Children will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about the books we read together. Grades K-3

Board Games – The PTA has curated a library of age-appropriate board games for students to enjoy. Grades K-5 

Origami Workshop- Transforming a piece of plain paper into personalized creations is a really fun experience. The students will learn how to fold paper into pieces of art following step-by-step directions. Grades K-5

Repurposed Arts and Crafts - Take pieces from everyday objects and repurpose them into something completely new! Make art from pieces that would be otherwise discarded and help our planet at the same time! Grades K-5 

Loom & Weaving - Kids can create bracelets, necklaces, rings, charms, action figures and so much more while practicing their fine motor skills and creativity! 1-5 

LEGO® - This popular and timeless activity combines creativity, fine motor skills, planning, and focus. Grades K-5
